IT — “Lost i Yonkers.” Production starts at 8 p.m. Continued from Page 4 unravels the extreme paranoia and sickness he felt growing up. Pop even reworks the Kings- men's recycled "Louie, Louie" to unleash his poignant confusion about "Life after Bush and Gor bachev." But these cathartic rantings hardly make for dead beat tunes. Pop's psychedelic drenched guitar combined with a groovin', boppy beat make this album a virtual dance-o-rama. By combining personal agony and high energy rock-n-roll. Pop has completed yet another tremendous achievement in the musical world. Hopefully, he won't end the trend. Rush Annette Continued from Page 4 as well heard on the music scene. Today Annette is battling multi ple sclerosis, a crippling disease of the central nervous system. She re- jcently started The Annette Funicello I Teddy Bear Company and is mar- | keting her own fragrance, "Cello, by I Annette." Last year. The Walt Dis- ^ ney Studios presented Annette with its Disney Legends Award, an I award that recognizes individuals who have made a significant impact : on the Disney Legacy. "Annette; A Musical Reunion . with America's Girl Next Door," [is a tribute to this most popular Mouseketeer. The record is made up of 47 [songs, most of which are monoto- 1 nous and tend to annoy the aver- ji age listener. However, if you can ; make it through the first half of tee ny-bopper 50s pop songs, the sec- ond half, made up of upbeat Hawaiian style music from Funicel- lo's "Beach Party" and "Beach Blanket Bingo" films promises to be worth the wait. Songs worth mentioning for their Caribbean beat are "Jamaica Ska," "Let's Twist Again," "Blame it on the Bosa Nova," "Surfer's Holiday" and a classic duet with the Beach Boys, "The Monkey's Uncle." Another predominant style apparent on the album is the Fu nicello Italian sound. Songs such as "Mia Cara, Mia Amore," "O Dio Mio" and "Ital- ianette" are typical of the soft "Lady and the Tramp-spaghetti- eating-scene-style," and are worth the listen. Audiences will also be re minded of favorite childhood films with soundtrack recordings of Disney classics. Soundtracks included on the album are "The Parent Trap," "Merlin Jones," from the "Misad ventures of Merlin Jones," and the theme song from "Babes in Toy land." In addition to the songs, the al bum includes candid conversations between Annette and Tutti Cama- rata, Disney's record producer, and rehearsals of recordings. On one song, "Strummin' Song," Funicello loses her voice and can't finish the recording be cause of her laughing fit. This ver sion has never before been released and adds a touch of humor to the album. For the Disney collector, this al bum is a must-have, but keep your finger near the fast forward button, it may come in handy often. Continued from Page 3 ability. Believe it or not, there are even a couple of love songs on this album. Whether your love "is born in solar flares" or "can turn into a long, cold burn," "The Speed of Love" and "Cold Fire" are two songs that will make you explore your relation ships. Anyone cynical of love can easily relate to the message of these two tracks. "Leave That Thing Alone!" is the fast-paced instrumental that wraps up "Counterparts" and brings back the "power" in the power trio that is Rush. "Counterparts" is a dream come true for Rush junkies. Even if you only have a slight in terest in Rush, you have to run out and buy this album! It is what stereos were invented for. Competition Continued from Page 3 the winning video in last year's competition. Bai believes that the competition is a unique event that "encourages my generation to uti lize cost-effective technology to voice opinions and show our tal ents." Bai decided to use his $1000 to fund a student film project. The tapes received will be taken on a tour of college campuses dur ing the 1994-1995 academic year.
