FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Ar kansas Head Football Coach Ken Hatfield says that the freshmen, who reported Aug. 10, aren’t expected to contribute much in preseason plan ning, but things could change quickly. “Eve told every freshman to plan to start against Ole Miss, but I’m not planning to use them right away,” Hatfield says. “A lot of times a player will think he might play later in the year but he’s not going to play at first.” “I put a freshman in there when I was at Florida and he set an all-time rushing record, and Hugh Green played for four years at Pitt like an All-American,” Hatfield says. “We won’t make any definite plans until the week of the game about who’s going to play.” Hatfield said Ole Miss may have an advantage on the Razorbacks when they open the Hog schedule Sept. 15 in Little Rock. Hatfield, who took Air Force to : two bowl victories and 18 wins in 1982 and 1983, replaced Lou Holtz as the Hog head coach in December and installed his Flexbone offense in spring practice. “There’s a definite advantage for (Ole Miss) having finished with Mis sissippi State and Air Force,” Hat field says. “They spent three weeks watching film of Air Force and time preparing for Mississippi State, so they may know our offense better than we do when we go out there in Little Rock. “It’s a plus for them, no doubt about it, to play us so soon in the year,” Hatfield said. “Some guys get injured just before they come back because they try to do too much and get in shape in one week,” Hatfield says. “We told them to do something every day all summer to avoid that. But on campus we’ve got control of what happens to them. I’m just eager to get going.” Hatfield said the players who went through spring practice should be able to pick up the system again quickly. “There’s not really a lot of teaching for us to do now”, he says. “We still have a lot of things that have to come together for us,” he says. f./, •Delicious Hamburgers made to order •Ice Cold Beer including Imported Brands S532S22EP. •Country Atmosphere complete with pool and games A place you’ll want to come back to.... 3600 South College Bryan 846-3306 SALOON 4 •M ttM Wh«al • B*ar on CT«h»d lea • Cearatry MiaaJc ■ Burgers, Sandwiches • Authentic Turn ef the Century Tejsem $49 00 For Four Months Tennis Racquetball Wallyball Weight Room Aerobic Classes Steam Room Saunas Whirlpools Some Limitations: 81 Non-Prime Time Hours Per Week $2.50 Per Person/Hour Court Fees Low Priority For Court Reservations Only Available September - May Aerobic Classes Extra If you can live with these limitations its the best bargain in town!!
