Gruetzmacher applied for the job ofkeeping Texas A&M University’s mascot because it is the highest honor of Company E-2, he said. Company E-2 is responsible for Reveille IV and sees to it that she makes all the football games. Often members of the company make per sonal contributions to ensure that Reveille IV attends all the games. Gruetzmacher said he lives in a rural area so Reveille IV will have plenty of room to romp about this summer. Reveille IV went to Liverpool re cently to try out her summer home. Gruetzmacher said that Reveille IV got along splendidly with his dachshund. Reveille IV is now able to sit, shake hands and heel on command after attending a training course at the Canine Hilton in Austin. We are given a glimpse of the Messiah’s Handbook, a manual on saving souls and understanding life used by every messiah from Christ to Mohammed. “The world is your exercise book, the pages on which you do your sums,” says the Handbook. “It is not reality, although you can ex press reality there if you wish. “You are also free to write non sense, or lies, or to tear the pages.” This the Gospel of the Is. But accepting that nothing is real and everyone is free to do as he chooses is too much for him to bear. ILLUSIONS is written in the same tight and simple style as Jonathan Seagull. It is short enough to read in an evening, but too stun ning to forget. Bach strips away reality as we know it and gives us a new reality: our dreams.
