CAMPUS PHOTO CENTER, INC. 401 UNIVERSITY DR. COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS 77840 713/846-5418 lete, we feel he can’t miss.’’ Robinson received offers from 60 major colleges and narrowed his choices to Tulsa, Oklahoma State and A&M before signing with the Aggies. An All-Stater, Robinson averaged 22.7 points and 9.7 rebounds per game in leading his team to the Ok lahoma state tournament. He was chosen Player of the Year in Tulsa. The Tulsa Tribune said of Robinson, “He is considered one of the top three prospects in what may be the most talented senior class to ever come out of Oklahoma. As a junior Robinson led his team to the Class 4A state championship while averaging 14.2 points and 9.2 rebounds per game. “We are extremely pleased that Joey decided on Texas A&M,” Met calf said. “He is considered one of the top prospects in the nation. The only type player we have gone after is the kind we felt could play as a freshman, and Joey is one of those. He is an outstanding young man on and off the court. While Metcalf and his aids are happy to have Robinson at A&M, the feeling is mutual. “I’m real happy to be coming to A&M,” Robinson said. “I finally de cided on A&M for a couple of reasons. I really like the campus and the basketball facilities. The big thing is that I feel like Southwest Conference basketball is on its way up. The coaches are great and I like their philosophy of coaching. ” T was really impressed with the other players at A&M,” Robinson said. “That was a difference in A&M and the other schools that I visited. At other schools I didn’t get to meet many of the players but I did at A&M. They are really great guys and I’m looking forward to next year.” While Robinson is looking for ward to next year with the Aggies he still has some high school business to take care of. In his regional track meet Monday, Robinson won the high jump with a jump of 6-4 and the shot put with a put of 53-2. He goes to the state meet next week. While Robinson is advancing to the state meet he will be remem bered most for his basketball re cords. This year he scored 639 points to break the Tulsa high school record. He also established school records for single game scoring with 46 and career points with 1,101. “There is a possibility that Joey will be the best shooter we have next year,” said Metcalf, who is also a Tulsa native. “Being from Tulsa, I’ve always been interested in the players around there. It is particu larly good to get the city’s top player. ” Take a few minutes to bring your bicycle in for service.
