But the mar gin changes allowing for a 25% in crease in content volume will offset the price rise. Both regulations were unanimously approved by the T4 members present. The Council also discussed an amendment to its constitution wh ich would limit its size to 21 mem bers. The council currently accepts one representative per 500 graduate students. Playgrounds that are built to en courage children to use their imagi nation and make decisions have been designed by two A&M stu dents. Scott Price, now a graduate stu dent, and Louis Arriola, a senior in environmental design, are the de signers of five playgrounds built in Houston and Bryan. The playgrounds are products of “spending two weeks playing with the kids and getting into the mood of the children and what they wanted to do,” explained Price. “The basic idea is leaving a lot of the use of the equipment up to the kids,” he added. “We tried to offer them different choices and a lot of things to do. ” The duo’s concoction can be climbed up, crawled through, slid down and played around. It’s an aggregate of slides, poles, rope lad ders, tunnels, paths and bridges made of natural and recycled mater ials. “Play to us is as important as any thing in learning, pointed out Price. “In our designs are transi tional things that carry over emotion and momentum from one area of play to the next.” Two of the playgrounds are in Houston. The St. Andrews Pre sbyterian playground in West Uni versity is completed and the West University Elementary School playground is under construction in three phases. When completed, the three units will be integrated into a whole after easy construction stages. Price said. Probably the most innovative of their creations is for the Brazos Re habilitation Center. There the two have planned a playground for chil dren whose needs and desires for play are probably greater than the normal child. The playground is planned for fun and exercise but with the limitations of its users in mind. tneqrapevinfe rit ^315TEXAS AVE^OlLCGE STATION* 653-333S ^ Bistro SANDWICHES—PLATES-^WINE— BEER-IMPORTED CHEESE Open for Lunch: 10-9 Mon.-Thurs. 10-10 Fri.-Sat.
