THE BATTALION Page 2 College Station, Texas Tuesday, September 29, 1970 CADET SLOUCH by Jim Earle Listen Up the hatt forum Editor: Just for the record, is the grass between the street and the side walk around the Memorial Stu dent Center considered part of the memorial to A&M war dead? throw in enough to cover the goodies the jocks eat? —Name withheld by request I have always thought it was part of the memorial, but I have seen many A&M students and secretaries walk across this grass to get into their cars, and can’t help but flinch every time it happens. Can you set this straight? Susan Gower ’71 MSC Director J. Wayne Stark said as far as he knows, the answer is no. In fact, he says to his knowledge none of the grass is part of the memorial —just the building. It has been a student custom to stay off, he said, but there is, as far as he knows, no official ruling on it. —Ed. The Athletic Department pays for all items over and above the regular menu, Food Services Director Fred Dollar said. —Ed. ★ ★ ★ Editor: I am a graduate of the class of 1970 and am stationed for the next two years at the Armed Forces Examining and Entrance Station in Houston. I would like to extend an invitation to any Aggies who have questions about the draft, ROTC or any other area to feel free to contact me. Thomas S. Kincy Lt. AGC, Asst. Adjutant Editor: Do you have spiritual feelings of inadequacy and doubts? If so, take them to the MSC some night and await the inevitable arrival of a “traptist.” A traptist is an overzealous soul searcher who will trap you into a conversation regarding the validity of theo logical relativism. So far this year I’ve been “hit” three times by these people, who maintain a constant vigil at the MSC. If they were reciting or handing out antiwar, antiestablishment, antiadministration or antiany- thing information, I’m pretty sure they would be ushered into oblivion. To say the least, I’ve had more pleasurable experiences. Like the time I was sea-sick and had lockjaw at the same time. B. Paul Quinn Bulletin Board ir ir Editor: While going through the back of Sbisa I noticed the master menus for last week. For last Wednesday noon meal, the Main has chili and macaroni, the annex has sandwiches and the athletes have what is described as a 14-oz. T-bone steak. ‘Those guys are not in th’ mood to talk football!’ So far as I know, the jocks pay the same $389 us mere mor tals do, minus whatever scholar ships they get for sweating their guts out so we can have a good time watching them beat the hell out of Ohio State on Saturday. My only question is, does all the money go into one pot and out comes chili-mac from one ladle and T-bones from the other, or does the Athletic Department Numbers in ( ) denote channels on the cable. 3:00 3 (5) Corner Pyle 15 (12) Sesame Street (NET) (Repeat of Monday) 3 (5) Town Talk 3 (5) Dark Shadows 15 (12) University Instructional 4:30 3 (5) Bewitched 5:00 3 (5) General Hospital 5:30 3:30 4:00 15 (12) Misterogers’ Neighborhood (NET) 3 (5) CBS News 15 (12) Sesame Street (NET) 3 (5) Evening News 6:30 3 (5) Beverly Hillbillies 15 (12) Campus and Community Today 7:00 3 (5) Green Acres 15 (12) What’s New (NET) 7:30 3 (5) Hee Haw 15 (12) Folk Guitar 6:00 8:00 15 (12) Questions 8:30 3 (5) To Rome with Love 15 (12) Viewpoint 9:00 3 (5) Marcus Welby, MD 15 (12) NET Journal 10:00 3 (5) Final News TONIGHT Cepheid Variable Science Fic tion Club will meet at 7:30 p.m. in room 3D of the MSC.
