Deatherage, head of the Department of Agricultural Biochemistry, Ohio State Univer sity, will talk on “The Nature of Quality in Meat” at 8 p.m., Friday, Oct. 31 in the lecture room of the Biological Science Building. A native of Illinois, Deatherage graduated from Illinois College in 1935 with a degree in chemistry, and received his Ph.D. in biochem istry from the University of Iowa in 1938. He has written many books in the field, and in recent years has been interested in the use of anti-biotics in foods. Faculty members, graduate stu dents and the public have been in vited to the meat lecture. At this meeting a local speaker- will speak on “The adverse effects the deactivation of Bryan Air Force Base will have on the local economy.” Meteorology Profs Attend Conference Dr. W. J. Saucier, Guy Frances- chini and Ken Brundidge, Ocean ography and Meteorology Depart ment, are attending the national conference on Upper Air of the American Meteorological Society held in Omaha, Neb., Oct. 8-10. Saucier and Brundidge are to pre sent papers on Project 134 jet stream work. Dr. Dale Leipper, head of the Department, will attend the Gulf States Marine Fisheries Commis sion meetings to be held in Mobile, Ala., Oct. 9-12. Rio Grande Valley Club Changes Dates The Rio Grande Valley Home Town Club has changed its meet ing dates from Thursday to Friday evenings.
