Bates, assistant to the director of student work for the department of religious edu cation of the United Christian Missionary Society, will meet at 2 p.m. Sunday at the YMCA with campus religious workers and stu dents interested in attending the Ecumenical Student Conference Dec. 27-Jan. 1 at Oklahoma A&M College. Study subject for the confer ence will be “Being the People of God.” A&M students already regis tered are Burt Atcheson, Bill Ash- burn, Frank Clark and Zilmar Marcos. Chaplains attending are the Rev. Roger Cilley, Episcopal; the Rev. Charles Hall, Methodist; and the Rev. Charles Workman, Presbyterian. Mr. Bates, in his position with the United Christian Missionary Society, serves Disciples Student Fellowships at universities and colleges throughout the United States and Canada. The society is an international board administering Christian edu cation and missions carried on co operatively among churches of Disciples of Christ. From offices Robert S. Bates in Indianapolis, it serves over 7,100 churches in North America, missions in the United States and 11 other countries, and some 125 Disciples Student Fellowships. Mr. Bates, born in Shanghai, China, is a son of missionary par ents. He received an A.B. degree at Hiram College, Hiram, Ohio, and a B.D. from Disciples Divin ity House at the University of Chicago. Regalia for the Baccalaureate- Commencement Exercise All students who are candidates for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy are re quired to order hoods as well as doctor’s cap and gown, and to leave the hoods with the Registrar no later than 1 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 15. The Ph.D. hoods will not be worn in the procession since all such candidates will be hooded on the stage. Candidates for the Master’s Degree will wear the master’s cap and gown; those who both are candidates for the Bachelor’s Degree, except military students, will wear th% bachelor’s cap and gown. All military students who are candidates for degrees will wear the appropriate military uniform. Rental of caps and gowns may be ar ranged with the Exchange Store. Church Choir To Present Special Music “The Song of Christmas” by Roy Ringwald will be presented by the choir of the A&M Methodist Church at 10:55 a.m. Sunday. The 35-voice choir, under the direction of William Turner, will present four-part choral arrange ments, interspersed with narration of the birth of Jesus. ■ Soloists will be Coralyn Thur man, soprano; Donald Royal, bar itone; Caroline Wilson, soprano, | and Jeanette Vance, soprano. Accompanists will be Carl Moehl- man, organist, and Mrs. Ross Strader, pianist. The Rev. A&M Christian Church Old Highway 6 south of Kyle Field A program of special Christ mas music will be presented by BSU To Entertain Church Youngsters At Holiday Parties Some 200 children of the Mac edonia Baptist Church at Millican and of the Bethel Grove Baptist Church at Cawthon will be enter tained this evening at Chi-istmas parties given by the Baptist Stu dent Union missions committee. The committee is led by Skip per Connor, junior pre-medical student at A&M, who has been as sisted by Max Barnett, A1 Meyer and Bob Brack. The parties will feature group games and refreshments, climaxed by a visit from Santa Claus, who will have a gift for each child pre sent. The gifts, as well as re freshments of fruit and nuts, have been contributed by various busi ness houses in Bryan and College Station. Assisting the committee in preparation for the party have been the young people of Emman uel Baptist Church, who will dec orate the church and provide re freshments. This affair climaxes several months of work with the children in weekly Friday night Bible schools at these two rural chur ches, Connor said. the choir at the morning service. The Aggie coffee hour is sched uled for 9:30 a.m., with the Dis ciples Student Fellowship meeting at 5:30 p.m. The church school Christmas program will be pre sented at 7 p.m. Sunday in the sanctuary. Each couple is asked to bring one gift for 25 cents.
