Insurance (Continued From Page 1) An insurance salesman said a policy that is not compulsory could be written, but it would cost more. He said a non-compulsory policy could be written if about 2,500 stu dents would guarantee to take it. He said he did not have official figures on the cost for a non-com- the low price. But he says it is definitely a good plan, pulsory policy. But he said he thought it was a good policy, and apparently antici pated it getting passed in a stu dent vote. He said a policy was being draf ted by the company. He said the company could pay off if every person in Texas died. EYES EXAMINED GLASSES PRESCRIBED DR. E. LUDEMANN DR. G. A. Most of this traveling will be done at least part of the way by auto mobile. All of it will be in a hurry. And the National Safety Coun cil says that more traffic fatalities occur in this month than in any other month of the year. 3,522 last year, for instance. Statistics also show that danger multiplies in proportion to the dis tance traveled. This means that those long, fast, grueling races that Aggies are famous for, are the most dangerous of all traffic circumstances. Here are some life saving tips. • Trade the driving chores around. Chances are, if you are not alone on the trip, the other pas sengers would be glad to drive and relieve you for some refreshing sleep or just an easing of tension. • Leave someone awake to watch the driver and talk to him if he wishes. Don’t make yourself obnoxious by distracting the at tention of the driver, but often a simple conversation will keep him awake. The car radio played softly will usually help also. ® Don’t drink alcohol. This can’t be stressed enough. Any type of alcoholic beverage will tend to lull you to sleep rather than keep you alert. Besides, long drives at night are full of enough hazards that you need not handicap yourself even more. ® Sleep when you are not driving or talking to the driver. A back seat full of sleeping drivers in sures an alert hand at the wheel most of the time. As was pointed out, a rotation system of sleeping, talking and driving helps reduce hazards. ® Leave some type of opening in the car. A little air circulating inside will tend to keep the driver alert and keep the windows from fogging. Most car heaters can cope with the slight change in temperature. ® Stop occasionally for coffee and rest. Even at gasoline stops, everyone should get out of the car and stretch his legs. Fresh air and exercise, along with food or some type of hot drink, will do wonders in restoring alertness. The National Safety Council statistics also show that one out of 13 drivers involved in fatal ac cidents had some physical hand icap at the time. Two-thirds of these accidents were attributed to fatigue. These points will save your life, or keep fatigue from taking your life. The rest, is up to you. Good Luck. They realized that only an organization with long experience in the science of precision-timing could shoulder such a great responsibility. Since Omega had the knowledge and experience, gained not only from timing all previous Olympiads since 1932 ... but also the timing of the historic Ban nister 3.59.4 mile-run, the British Commonwealth Games, the 1955 Pan American Games and scores of other contests ... the appointment of Omega was nat ural and logical.
