A telephone call to Montez’s lawyer, Michael Siff, was not returned Tuesday. Montez kept the girl in his apartment and repeatedly raped her over a two-day period in August after the girl was forcibly taken to New York, allegedly by a Long Island cou ple who befriended her in an Internet chat room. The couple, James Warren, 41, of Hampton Bays, and Beth Loschin, 44, of Farmingdale, were arrested Aug. 10 and are awaiting trial. Warren and Loschin drove the girl to New York, sexually abused and beat her and then lent her to Montez for several days, investigators said. At the time, investigators said Montez kept the girl nude in a closet and dragged her out only to rape her. inn nm ir;i|iii in 11 m mu 11 m u m 11 m 11 m 11 iig Brazos Valley Piano Studio Vincent Campise Faculty Member National Guild of Piano Teachers Add your personality to this special studio. 2202 Old Hearne Rd., Bryan 778-3997 Texas ASM WRESTLING TEAM For info call: Tom: 696-7721 Jon: 779-9907 [nth RAX Cotitinuedfrom Page 1 Ickage] meets the criteria, we will then call in the fzmat Team,” Ward said. We accepted a two year hiatus, agreeing that it would be best for Texas A&M. Now it is time to proceed,” the letter states. “Please do whatev er it takes to fulfill your commit ment to an Aggie Bonfire in 2002. Don’t extinguish the Bonfire flame forever.” In 2000 Bowen said Bonfire would return in 2002 but under strict parameters — including a single-tier stack, professionally cut logs and a design by licensed engineers. Planning for Bonfire is underway, but efforts to final ize a design have been hindered by the University’s inability to find a safety firm. Two firms have already backed out of negotiations, citing liability issues and lack of student involvement. Bowen is set to decide in January whether Bonfire 2002 will occur. Student Body President Schuyler Houser, a senior indus trial engineering major, said she was unaware of the letter but that as Bowen nears a final deci sion on Bonfire, it is important students share their views and concerns with administrators. “I think this is the sort of feedback the University wants, and I really hope students pay attention to what’s going on and give their input,” Houser said. Bowen and other University officials have made every effort to ensure a safe Bonfire that includes student support and participation, Houser said. #1 Verizon Wireless Agent in Aggieland • FREE Hands Free Headset • FREE Voice Mail • FREE Caller ID *39 95 $ 59 95 Enjoy clear digital calling from Verizon Wireless.
