Accessibility, services of Web baseli listings increase with new computjc eflec BY MELISSA JORDAN The Battalion The Human Resources Depart ment will introduce its recently-in stalled employment computers, which will increase the accessibili ty and services the office provides to prospective A&M employees. The computers are in the off- campus employment office, and the demonstration will be today at 11 a.m. in the employment office facility located on University Drive. The department began a Web- based job listing in November of 1998, but prior to the computer in stallation in the employment office, prospective employees could only access the human resources web page containing applications and information through personal com puters or public-use computers. Terry Jacques, staffing assistant in the employment office, said the demonstration is meant to publi cize the new employment comput ers which increase services to peo ple who do not otherwise have access to computers. The newly installed employ ment computers will simplify the application process for prospective A&M employees by allowing them to access job openings and fill out the required nine-page application online while in the employment of fice After filling out the online ap plication. applicants submit it to the office for job openings. The 1999 Region VII National As sociation of College and University Food Services Conference (NACUFS) will bring 150 representatives from Region VII to the A&M campus. Cindy Zawieja, associate director of the Food Services Department, said conference sessions will address renovation, leadership, self-branding and franchising. Zawieja said they will use Sbisa Dining Hall as a case study to teach aspects of renovation. “We will use Sbisa as an example on how to get ideas for remodeling and how to work with architects,” she said. Zawieja said during the past two summers, food services relocated Sbisa's dish room and added an en tryway. “By the year 2000, Sbisa should also have new floors, roof and plumbing,” she said. She said the fast-food aspect of Sbisa will change to a brand-name concept with an international sec tion and a 1950s diner. The regular dining area will have a market con cept. Zawieja said self-branding and franchising are the future of food ser vice. Examples of franchising are Chick-fil-A and Whataburger in the Underground Food Court, and ex amples of self-branding are OF Armvdillos and Be: MSG Susan FiechtiE tor for the Center fc velopment, willspe ing habits for effer: The conferenci Wednesday with a, 12:35 to 3:30 pi: through 231.
