How is this for information? The studio executives in charge of Knockoff, Jean-Claude Van Damme’s return to doing the splits on the silver screen, never even bothered to show critics the movie before opening night. This lack of confidence is jus tified. Hark, normally a genius in the action genre, directs a lame duck, attempting to blend physical action with buddy-bud dy comedy. This combination worked bet ter in the Lethal Weapon series. When Van Damme tries to em ulate the new Hong Kong talents, it comes across as borrowed.
