Student designs are a master plan for a 30 to 50- person residential community and a summer camp for the mentally disabled. Facilities will include 20 to 30 buildings and could cost $5 million to $6 million to develop, Mann said. The Hortons, who have been raising funds for the ranch since 1989, will use students’ designs in fundraising efforts over the next few months. Fund ing is provided by individuals, churches, businesses and foundations. Mr. Horton said the master plans give them some thing to show people when they ask for support. “Having the prestige of George Mann, the College of Architecture and Texas A&M University,” he said, “is going to be of immeasurable and incalculable fu ture benefit.” Students U1 I Me ike ! In addition to working together as a group, he explained that it is just as essential to interact with people of other groups. He said the organization was instituted through the MSC because it provides many opportunities of interaction between its more than 20 diverse committees. “Once you separate into groups, you close yourself to other en vironments,” he explained. "By working with others you are open to learning.” Nellson Bums, MSC president and a senior international studies major, said it was a good time to start the committee because of the growth of the Asian population at A&M. “There is really an audience,” he said. “We are happy to provide this committee.” He said that ACE is designed to educate the entire student body and to promote campus unity. Rachel Allen, MSC council member and a junior speech com munication major, said Kao played an instrumental role in ACE’s formation. “I think that Frank has done a wonderful job putting this together,” she said. “The idea for the committee is timely and important, and 1 expect it to be a great success.” Kao, who is currently the only Asian student senator, encourages everyone to get involved because it helps people to be more open and understanding. This will dissolve prejudice, he said. “Once we have a better understanding of each other, mutual un derstanding will follow,” Kao said. "This will help bind us together.” Brenham mandril - . he in canoe accidefugi A Brenham man drowned Ma’ ter his canoe apparently caps: pond located on the property of wood Airport, which is owned a’ ated by Texas A&M University.
