We wanted to show people that this defensive line was as good as ones from the years past. People could say, ‘they might be young, but they didn’t miss a beat’.” Now Heard, Rollins and Crowley stand as a link between the great de fensive lines of the past and the po tentially great ones of the future. With a solid core of true and redshirt fresh men waiting to take over next season, they know that they have a responsi bility to the program to get the new linemen ready to play. “Next year they’re going to have to step up and play so we’re giving them as much knowledge as we can,” Crowley said. "We don’t have but five games left, who knows, maybe seven, to get these guys polished up so the coaches can overhaul them in the spring and they’ll be a strong unit.” Heard said his teammates’ desire to help the program, even after they are gone, is not a surprise. “Marcus is a guy that cares about this program,” Johnson said. “He cares about his team. Playing here has meant a lot to him. To this point, he’s done a fine job for us this season and I’m proud of him.” Another group thankful for Heard’s play have been the inside linebackers. Playing a position which receives constant double teaming, Heard lias helped free up Dat Nguyen and tire other inside linebackers, al lowing them to make more tackles. Heard said statistics do not concern him, as long as the Aggies Texi >a Kappa ( ign zed by /lental Ret fafjey yest< iervice am i/IHMR dur Hmhmr< lavilion at 'Complex in "S' Kappa k aiied mor ;ournamen nents of tl g the pav The Bry< are winning. r ^ "I'm ()nc()i'thegiiysii].Jf r (! he said. “The linebadM 801011 ^ THE ONLY PRE-PARTY BEFORE THE BIG GAME!! es, the glory, but if that's whd win, it’s all right.
