Page 6 The Battalion Tuesday, September U Activists upset over suspended sentence SAN ANTONIO (AP) - Some homosexual activists say they are outraged at a 10-year suspended sentence given a man who beat to death a gay school teacher he claimed drugged and raped him. "It makes me furious/' Martha Fitzwater, who works on civil rights cases involving homosexu als, said Sunday. "It is really shocking to my conscience." Nicolo J. Giangrasso, a Marine cadet, was sentenced last week. He admitted to killing 37-year-old Charles Perez Resendez on New Year's Day of 1990. Giangrasso, then 18, said he beat Resendez to death after wak ing up next to him in a hotel room and finding a used condom on the floor. The Marine recalled drinking heavily the night before, and said Resendez bought him a soda at a convenience store where the two met. More What's Up lilt!
