There are only 14 teams in the NFC to begin with. Three of them have no chance after week 1, That leaves 11 teams pushing for six playoff spots. The San Francisco 49ers will win the NFC West, The New Or leans Saints might make the play offs an that's it for the west. In the NFC Central, It will be either the Chicago Bears or the Minnesota Vikings will make the playoffs, but not both. That leaves the NFC East with three playoff teams. The Cowboys will be one of those three teams. The Cleveland Browns are as bad a football team as last year's 3-13 record showed. But Sunday's 26-14 Cowboy victory over the Browns did not show so much Cleveland as a bad football team but the Cowboys as a good one. Quarterback Troy Aikman looked like a poised veteran throwing for 274 yards and two touchdowns to go along with an amazing statistic of no intercep tions. If the offensive line keeps Aik man from getting hurt this year, he is in for a career year. Emmitt Smith continues to show that he is one of the best young running backs in football. One strength Cleveland does have is defensive lineman Michael Dean Perry, a Pro Bowl player. All Smith did against Perry and his mates was run for 112 yards. Cowboy wideout Michael Irvin proved that if he is healthy, he is a great receiver. He caught nine passes for 123 yards and a touchdown. And, as for the Cowboys road to the Super Bowl, like the great Elvis Presley said in a song, "If I can dream." Well, my dream has the Cow boys beating the Vikings or Bears in the first round of the playoffs and coming back the next week with a scalping of the Redskins. The NFC Championship Game will have Irvin leaping up in the back of the end zone snaring an Aikman pass avenging "The Catch" back in 1981. The Super Bowl will pit the Cowboys against tire Buffalo Bills. Final score 21-10 If all this happens, remember, you heard it here first. MARTEH ARDER. ngineering student? Smart. Math or science major? Also smart. On tests, you probably run equations over again to make sure they’re right. So you’re working harder. You don’t have to do it anymore. For engineering students, The TT-68 solves up to five simultaneous equations, provides complex number functions and offers formula programming. That’s power. And for math and science applications, the TT-81 offers the most compre hensive, yet easy- to-use graphing functions with ex tensive program ming capabilities. Courier defeats Sampras in Ope: NEW YORK (AP) - Jim Courier knocked off friend and willing foil Pete Sampras, the brooding defending champion, to reach the U.S. Open semifinals.
