Rally (Continued from page 1) “And revolutions rarely lead to dem ocratic solutions. “You usually end up with the gov ernment of whichever group had the most guns,” Kibb said, “and that would most likely be the African Na tional Congress.” ANC leadership would be harm ful because it is a “terrorist group,” Kibb said. He said the ANC leaders support the killing and torture of blacks who support the current re gime. It is because of the instabilities of the impoverished communities that divestment would not work, Kibb said. “We are afraid that the country is so economically unstable that it might be torn apart,” he said. Free enterprise, rather than di vestment, is the answer, Kibb said. “We believe that a good dose of free enterprise would lead to a stronger economy and to the end of apartneid,” he said. “We also feel that will have more influence if we are still involved in South African companies.” Sharon Shafer, the president of Young Conservatives, said they sim ply want to encourage alternatives. “We want people to look at this is sue from a long-term standpoint,” she said. “We do not think divest ment is the way to end apatheid.” Tang said he thinks apathy is the reason for a lack of involvement on the part of A&M students. “I am frustrated by the people on this campus,” he said. “They seem to find excuses not to question them selves or their political party.” Tang drew upon the adage that if you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem. “You may care, but if you do not do anything, it doesn’t matter,” he said.
