Nichols said. “We’re working on it now.” Nichols and Glenn J. Winslow, civil engineers with Birmingham- based Southern Building Code Con gress International Inc., were in Brownsville for three days after the three-story Amigo Store collapsed Thursday. The engineers, the primary inves tigators of the collapse, said their job has been made more difficult be cause important building records have been unavailable. in a flood,” Nichols said. The store was built in 1969 and the third floor was added about 1975, Nichols said. He said the city still is going through its records, which were stored in several locations, in search of the construction plans. Nichols said Brownsville building official Tony Yzaguirre has said the records may have been lost. Fast professional typing at low rates 7 days/wk. Nichols and Winslow said their in vestigation also was hampered by sketchy information from witnesses. Winslow said in several months a complete report will follow this week’s release of a preliminary re port. Nichols said, “Although we don’t expect to have any answers, we do hope to keep the lines of commu nication open.” Aquarium site may be built over artifacts CORPUS CHRISTI (AP)- Historians are digging trendies in search of musket balls, cannon balls and old bottles at thesiteot the future Texas State Aquarium, where Gen. Zachary Taylor once oversaw a pre-Civil War camp. Meanwhile, work on theaquar ium project at Corpus Chrisn Beach halted temporarily. The city hired James E. War ten, a professional archaeologist after a review of the aquariums site showed it is located exactli where 4,000 U.S. troops were sta tioned under Taylor in 1845-46 The Texas Antiquities Code stipulates that the Texas Antiqui ties Commission may commem on historical disturbances of buildings that use public funds. “They (the commission) com mented that this area is histoii cally important arid should at least have the opportunity to be looked at,” Warren said. When Taylor arrived in Cor pus Christi, the Mexican govern ment protested, because is said the area between the Nueces River and the Rio Grande wasnoi a part of Texas. Mk ctually, a clinic-based HMO could be the best choice for you and your family. / F° r those who spend a majority of their monthly income on medical bills, & ^ such programs can provide substantial savings. The same may be true for JL*. JL. those already obtaining their medical care from the sponsoring clinic. But others have found the restrictions imposed by HMO participation too limiting. For example, you’ll have to switch from your current doctor to one employed by the HMO. You’ll lose your present PCS card. You’ll forfeit your present dental coverage. You may occasionally be required to leave the city for certain specialized tests and procedures - even when those services are available locally. Only traditional medical insurance guarantees your freedom of choice in health care. Before you surrender that freedom, take the time to be sure an HMO is the best choice for you 5=p Brazos Independent Physicians Want to know more Confused about your health ant options?
