The information is bed on a food service establish- ■ent inspection report. Score — 92. Four points were sub tracted in the report because a fly-proof screen was needed over some vents and a rear-door threshold needed weatherstrip ping and repairing. Two two- point violations were cited in the report because ice used for bever ages was uncovered and a cup was being used in place of an ice scoop. David Jefferson, a registered sanitarian at the department, says res- I taurants with scores of 95 or above generally have excellent operations and facilities. He says restaurants with scores in the 70s or low 80s usually have serious violations in the health report. I Scores can be misleading, Jefferson says, because restaurants can get the same score by having several minor violations or a few major vi olations. He says the minor violations can be corrected during the in spection. Point deductions, or violations, in the report range from one point (minor violation) to five points (major violations). I Jefferson says the department might close a restaurant if: the score is below 60, the personnel have infectious diseases, the restaurant lacks adequate refrigeration, there is a sewage backup in the building, or the restaurant has a complete lack of sanitization for the food equipment. I The department inspects each restaurant every six months. Jeffer son says a follow-up inspection is sometimes required if a restaurant has a four- or Five-point violation that cannot be corrected during the in action, or if there are numerous small violations. Inspectors at the department are registered sanitarians. Texans to fund restoration of state Capitol AUSTIN (AP) — For $300, Tex ans can make a concrete contribu tion to restoration of the state Capi tol, the group responsible for refurbishing the nearly 100-year-old building announced Wednesday. The Capitol Committee kicked off the Capitol Centennial by inviting Texans to purchase a 28-inch ce ment diamond to be placed in the 500-foot walk leading to the Capi tol’s south entrance and the walk surrounding the building. The deadline for purchasing the di amonds is June 15. The original gray cement walk now in place is deteriorating, said Roy Graham, Capitol architect. Purchasers’ names will be sandb lasted into the cement blocks in half inch letters through the “A Walk in History” project, said Lowell Leber- mann Jr., president of the Capitol Committee. I held it, I think for about 20 seconds and then it jerked out of my hands and swam to deeper waters. “By this time, April was in shallow water. We both collapsed oh shore from exhaustion. By now, Beth and the girls realized that something was wrong and that we weren’t just play ing out in the waves.” Beth Voglino, April’s mother, said, “I ran down to April and Rob ert. Robert was still holding on to her arm, but he was very weak. From that point on I used everything I had learned in a first-aid class I had taken about three years ago.” The girl was flown by U.S. Coast Guard helicopter to Memorial Medi cal Center, where doctors operated for 45 minutes to control bleeding and amputate the part of the bone still protruding, Voglino said. The attack occurred in the Gulf of Mexico off Mustang Island. 2002 E. 29th 775-2463 ANGEL HEART r 7:20 '9:50 SOME XIN0 OF WONDERFUL pg-13 7:10 9:55 $ DOLLAR DAYS $ This Week’s Features Are: CRITICAL CONDITION r 7:20 9:45 'CROCODILE DUNDEE PG-13 7:25 9:35 NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 111 r BURGULAR r 7:30 9:40 PRESENTS ITGEIST THE GROVE APRIL 26 8:00p.m. $3.00 at door Tickets: MSC Box Office For All Your Needs pw •Hm fiin NU" soil 0 •Hit n'NC# soft _ tax) STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS OFFICER WORKSHOP CHECK YOUR ORGANIZATION’S BOX IN THE STUDENT FINANCE CENTER FOR DETAILS THURSDAY APRIL 23,1987 7:00 p.m. 601 RUDDER TOWER Call Battalion Classified 845-2611 ALL OFFICERS AND ADVISORS OF TAMU RECOGNIZED STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS ARE ENCOURAGED TO ATTEND Sponsored by the Department of Student Activities and Student Government
