Holland, a 219-pound junior from Hempstead, averaged 15 tackles per game for the Aggies, who captured their first Southwest Con ference title in 18 years this season. M ichigan State running back Lo- lenzo White and Oklahoma line backer Brian Bosworth. two of the best sophomores to come along in recent years, also were among the list of elites. fhey were joined on the team by Heisman Trophv-winnmg tailback Bo Jackson of Auburn and Lom- baroi Award recipient Tony Casillas. Besides White and Bosworth, the only other sophomore on the first team is Helton, who finished second nationally in punting with a 40.0- yard average, l^e made good on 21 of 24 field goal attempts and became the leading kicker in NCAA history.
