By TRENT LEOPOLD Staff Writer You can’t take it with i you, so you might as well have a good time while $ale-a-bi*ate Your Accomplishment you can. That was the message of the Ag gie Players’ performance of the Pu litzer Prize winning comedy play “You Can’t Take It With You” Thursday night in Rudder Forum. An audience of about 100 was on hand to witness the realistic produc tion while the Broadway play “Gigi” was being performed in nearby Rud der Auditorium. Some of the actors and actresses in “You Can’t Take It With You” could easily be acting in a Broadway play soon, judging from their per formance last night. The play is about two families, the Sycamores and the Kirbys. Alice Kirby, played by Gwendolyn Pesek falls in love with Tony Kirby, played by Larry Hermes. Their love leads the two families to meet. The Sycamores are an easy going family while the Kirbys aren’t so laid back. The problem arises when Tony and his family go to the Sycamore’s house for dinner a night before they are invited. Among other things, the Kirbys are thrown in jail. Grandpa, excellently played by Jeffrey T.M. Danish, saves the relationship after all of the problems arise between the two families. The props, costumes and setting were excellent. The play is set at Grandpa’s house in the spring of 1938. The sound effects also were realis tic. During one night scene crickets could be heard outside. Six more performances of the play are scheduled. Two more are scheduled this weekend and three are scheduled next weekend. A spe cial benefit performance for the Col lege of Liberal Arts will be held this Wednesday night. || Rodeo.
