By TRENT LEOPOLD Stuff Writer The Texas A&M Revellers per formed an evening of jazz and swing before an audience of about 150 Tuesday night in Rudder Theater. “Love’s Around the Corner” was the theme of the program. The concert opened with “Feel the Power” as several multi-colored hearts hung over the 23 musicians. The first half of the concert, which lasted about 50 minutes, in cluded two vocal and piano solos. Mike Patino sang the ballad “We’re Coin’ All The Way” as he played the piano in front of a pur ple-lighted background. Jef Fite Jr. loinecl in on the drums and Brian Lippman played the bass. The seven Revelier girls, who wore black skirts and blue blouses, then took the stage donning rain gear as they sang “It’s Raining Men.” Lippman sported his sun shades while Fite had an umbrella of his own as they accompanied the girls. The piece drew several “whoops” from the audience. Danny Powell then sang “Crazy” as he played the piano. The Reveliers followed Powell’s solo, singing “Lullaby of Birdland.” Birdland is a dance hall in New York named after a famous saxophone player. After three more pieces: “Let’s Call the Whole Thing Off,” “All of Me" and “Can’t We Be Friends," a piece featuring solo Jody McMillan, The Reveliers sang the hit song “Love Will Keep Us Together." After a 10-minute intermission. the band played “Free l ime,” a spe cial spot that featured only the band members. Members of the audience began applauding as Joe Warner played the keyboards. The band members were then in troduced. Bass player Brian Lippman re ceived a warm round of applause from the audience as did pianist Christi Wika and keyboard player Joe Warner. Jody McMillan then sang another solo during the next piece, "Ain't Nobody.” The Reveliers then performed three more pieces; “Fever,” “Perso- nality” and “Paper Roses.” “Paper Roses” featured a solo by Rhonda Grider who also sang a solo later in the program during “1 Can’t Stop Lovin’ You.” Kyle Blanscet sang Robert Plant’s “Sea of Love” along with his two fe male accompaniments, w'ho were known as “The Blenders.” The final piece of the program was “From This Moment On.” Tom Reese, a member of the au dience, expressed his views of the concert this way: “It is hard to believe that this the ater isn’t full,” he said. “This group is really good. Tickets were only $3.50 and it was well worth the cost.” Tfie audience applauded The Reveliers for about half a minute at the end of the concert. The Reveliers is a pop-jazz group which got its name in 1975 in honor Texas A&M’s mascot. !tided dediat! , education, ra >n and crimioi e selected ara lx* transient* g state funds, so would gnu is for materii he facility, are expected it he bill today.
