Savitch, 36, and a compan ion, New York Post Vice Presi dent Martin Fischbein, 34, drowned Sunday night after Fis- chbein’s car swerved off a rain- slicked road and plunged into the Delaware Canal in New Hope, Pa. Savitch’s mother, Florence, and two sisters, Lori and Stepha nie, were among the mourners at Roth Memorial Chapel, where Mort Crim, an anchor man for WDVI-TV in Detroit, delivered a eulogy. Crim, a friend of Savitch’s since the two worked in Phi ladelphia, told reporters the ser vice was a “private thing be tween friends and family.” Also attending the services were CBS newsman Ed Bradley, a reporter on the “60 Minutes” news program, and Sue Sim mons, an anchorwoman for WNBC-TV in New York.
