Officials said Austin Ryan and Bernie Mora, who were re ported in good condition, were being escorted out of the wilder ness area. The two men, who had been in the area for several days when heavy weekend rains raised the water level in streams and rivers, were spotted Tuesday, said Don Webb of the forest service. “The helicopter flew out and located two tents and two men on the north side of the Middle Fork River,” Webb said. “They’re high and dry and apparently had no problems. The water was just too high for them to get out.” PROBLEM PREGNANCY Are you considering Abortion? SOCIETY FOR ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND NEW VENTURES PANEL DISCUSSION STUDENT ENTREPRENEURS FROM: SMU, TV, AND A&M Thurs Oct. 6 7 p.m. Room 601 Rudder Everyone is Welcome United Press International NEW YORK — The lawyer for former CIA agent Edwin Wilson Wednesday said it was “hairbrained and ridiculous” to charge that his jailed client con cocted a $ 1 million scheme to kill 11 people, including his former wife. Wilson, 55, is charged with arranging from his prison cell a scheme to slay witnesses who had testified against him, for mer business associates who owed him money and his ex-wife Barbara. A witness for the prosecution testified that Wilson had asked him about possible hit men while they were fellow prisoners in the Metropolitan Correction Center in lower Manhattan. Prosecutor Eugene Kaplan said the defendant, a one-time undercover agent in Libya, offered $1 million to have one intended victim followed into court and shot in the witness chair. Wayne Trimmer testified that Wilson made handwritten notes describing the locations of the intended victims and their habits. Trimmer produced the notes for evidence. Trimmer said Wilson approached him last fall and said, “I want a number of people killed. Can you help me out?” It was not known if Trimmer was offered an abbreviated sent ence for his cooperation with au thorities. Trimmer was allegedly among Wilson’s targets after the defendant learned Trimmer was to testify against him. In his opening statement, Ka plan quoted Wilson talking ab out Trimmer. “Kill him, I’ll give a half million dollars to have him ({COCOOO! >coo«c<oo: MSC LEADERSHIP POSITIONS AVAILABLE Chairman-MSC Games Chairman-MSC Recreation APPLICATIONS AVAILABLE thur Oct. 7 At The Secretary’s Island 216 MSC killed even if you have to follow him into the courtroom I want that rat killed.” The prosecutor did not say who Wilson made the offer to. Defense lawyer Michael Dowd argued that someone as skilled and experienced in undercover work as Wilson could not be duped by such a “hairbrained and ridiculous scheme.” Kaplan said Wilson allegedly insisted that one murder take place, if necessary, in the cour troom where his murder- conspiracy trial began Wednesday. Kaplan said Wilson also directed a gunman to go to Swit zerland to murder Wilson's for mer lawyer, who had custody of many of his financial recoras. “Throw him off the balcony of his apartment in Geneva and burn the apartment to destroy the recoras,” Kaplan quoted Wilson as saying. Wilson is serving 32 years in prison following his convictions in Virginia and Texas on uns and x charges of shipping gi o plastic explosives to Lib ya.
