These charts show recommen dations (of the Texas House Appropriations Committee. The “1981” column shows the current budget for comparison. The committee has released its proposals, but they must still be approved on the House floor. The Senate must also approve an appropriations bill, then both houses must reach a compromise on specific amounts. All this must happen within the next five weeks because the cur rent session ends June 1. Below are the House Approp riations Committee recommenda tions for the other academic insti tutions in the Texas A&M System and the Texas Forest Service. Figures for the service agencies will appear in Thursday’s Batta lion. For more details on the budget and Texas A&M Universi ty, please turn to page 1. Moody College requested $13.4 million for new construc tion, none of which was recom mended. The construction in cluded a $7.5 million library- classroom building and a $2.8 mil lion P.E. building. Undercurrent law. Moody is not eligible to re ceive building money from the Permanent University Fund, as are the other academic institu tions in the System. That particu lar provision is expected to be changed along with other parts of the PUF.
