Entries are being accepted in 159 East Kyle until 5 p.m. Tuesday. The Cross Country meet will be Tuesday, November 11 at 5:30 p.m. The run will start at the comer of Beef Cattle Road and Joe Routt Blvd. Table Tennis Doubles pairings will be available in the IM Office on Thursday afternoon. SILVER TAPS: No Intramural activities have been scheduled tomorrow evening (Tuesday, November 4) for the 10 o’clock time slot at the Penberthy Complex. However teams scheduled for Penberthy at 11:10 p.m. are reminded that their games will take place as scheduled. Don’t be fooled by the fact that the lights will be off from 10 p.m. until 11 p.m. LONG DRIVING CONTEST RESCHEDULED: Individuals entered in the Long Driving Contest should be aware that the event has been rescheduled for Wednesday, November 5 at 4:30 p.m. Please note the earlier starting time. INTRAMURAL BASKETBALL OFFICIALS: Guys and gals interested in becoming Intramural Basketball Officials should be aware that the training clinics will be held this semester even though IM Basketball will not begin until second semester. Prospective officials should come by the IM Office this month and speak to David Kerr or Lynette Ginn. The initial training clinic for basketball officials will be conducted on Monday. Rugby Club Update On the weekend of October 25- 26, the Texas A&M Rugby Club traveled to San Antonio for the Tenth Annual Seven-a-side Rugby Tournament. Faced against a stiff field of thir ty teams, the Aggies came away with a respectable showing of four wins and two losses. The two loss es came at the hands of the Austin Rugby Club and the Ft. Worth Rugby Club. These two teams eventually met in the semi-finals with Ft. Worth ultimately advanc ing to the finals and bowing to the Dallas Rugby Club in a heartbreaker, 10-8. The Aggies returned from the trip with a 6-3 overall record for the year. The team competed this past weekend at home against the Old Boys Rugby Club. The fall season will be rounded out when the Aggies travel to Lit tle Rock for the Ozark Tourna ment on November 8-9, to Austin for a Cup match on November 15, and to the Houston Invitational Rugby Tournament on November 22. Swatting a large fly? No, this young lady has just completed a successful serve in IM volleyball action. She is our McDonald’s Be Our Guest winner this week and can pick up her B.O.G. card at the IM office merely by bringing her student I.D. card and her “Klein P.E. shirt” into the office. M< ■I Badminton Club Host Tournament Entry Deadline Is Tomorrow At 5 p.m. Sign Up In 159 East Kyle Football Playoffs Continue The TAMU Badminton Club will be hosting a tournament November 14 and 15 in the 3rd floor gym of G. Rollie White Col iseum. The tournament is open to any one in the A&M area (faculty, stu dents, staff, spouses, boyfriends, etc.). Prizes will be awarded to the finalists in each event and to the consolation winners. Individuals will be assessed a $2.00 entry fee for their first event and $1.00 per each additional event. The entry deadline will be Wednesday, November 12. Entry forms are available in the lifa ral Office (159 East Kyle) ora equipment rack on the main of G. Rollie White. Due to the cool weather that has beseiged the College Station area during the past week, the University swimming pools will operate for recreational swimming according to the following schedule: 6-7 p.m. 6-7 p.m. 6-7 p.m. 6-7 p.m. 6:30-9 p.m. 1-6 p.m. 1-6 p.m. 6-7 p.m. 6-10 p.m. 6-7 p.m. 6-10 p.m. 6:30-9 p.m. 1-5 p.m. The first of Flag Football playoffs were completed last week and several games had to be decided by penetrations. A team is awarded a penetration when it crosses its oppoenents twenty yard line. However, a team can only earn one penetration per possession. The Keathley Kommets and Hobby/Neely Hecklers played last Sunday to an 8-all tie, but Keathley ad vanced in the playoffs by winning penetrations, 3 to 1. The Kommets picked up all of their penetrations in the first half while the Hecklers lone penetration came in the second half. In Monday’s competition, the Men’s Independent A and B action each had two games decided by penetra tions. The Astros and Hyper Space ended Class A regulation play scoreless, but Hyper Space won the penetration wars, 3 to 2. In another Class A contest, the Hard Heads defeated the Snarps by a score of 4 penetrations to 3. Both teams tallied 18 points in the first half but were unable to cross the gaolline during the second stanza. Close Men’s Independent B play was evident when quick Six stopped the Clippers by 4 penetrations to 2 as they tied the contest at 12 all. The Tyler Rebels lost to AWT in the closest contest of the night. The teams played to a scoreless tie but AWT was the eventual winner on the merit of a single penetration. Tuesday’s Men’s Independent Class B action was again the closest division with three games being de cided by penetrations. Rigor Mortis defeated Big Dogs 14-14 due to a 3-2 edge in penetrations, while Terrible Ten was defeated by BQ 80 by a 2 to 1 penetration advantage. The contest ended at 6 points apiece. The last close game of the night occurred when the Coons topped Third String by a score of 4 penetrations to 1. The contrasting game of the week was last Sunday’s contest between the Playboys and OCA I. The Play boys tallied 30 points in the first half and responded with 36 more in the second half for the 66-0 win. Downs Natatorium last Monday evening as the 1980 All- University Swimming Team Champions. Double victories for the team by Steve Clemens, Paul Hoffmann, Dan Hoffmann, and Mark Lenox guided the team to a decisive victory. Clemens was a triple victor for the evening as he competed for the winning Co-Rec Wetbacks 200 yard Freestyle Relay team, in ad dition to his victories in the 100 yard Freestyle and Men’s 200 yard Freestyle Relay. Paul Hoffmann recorded ... double through legs on the win ning 200 Medley and 200 yard Freestyle Relays, while brother Dan Hoffmann was also a member of the 200 yard Medley team and emerged as the winner in the 50 yard Butterfly. Mark Lenox notched one of the four records set during the cham pionships in route to victory in the 50 yard Breaststroke. He was in volved in a second record as he his teamed with the Hoffmann brothers and Doug Dentino to es tablish a new mark in the 200 yard Medley. In women’s action, triple vic tories were achieved by Debbie Dick of Neely Hall and Cathy Bohrer of Mosher Hall. Debbie topped the field in the 50 yard Backstroke and 100 yard Individu al Medley, while Cathy captured firsts in the 50 yard Freestyle and 200 yard Freestyle Relay. Both girls also competed in the winning Co-Rec Wetbacks 200 yard Frees tyle Relay team. The third record of the evening was established in the 200 yard Freestyle Relay by Mosher’s team of Bohrer, Paula Haye, Sherry Ackles and Beth Ferris. Ferris and Haye also doubled for the evening by competing on the winning 200 yard Medley team. An additional double was recorded by June Scobey of Wet & Wild.
