On New Age Radio, she attacks prejudices that equate aging with senility. “People just aren’t old at age 65 anymore,” one radio program proc laimed. In 1884, 65-year-olds “were something of an oddity,” but now they are “just another number.” In other programs, New Age promotes a new support structure for the elderly to replace family units that no longer revere their seniors. “Look to yourselves and your neighbors, that’s what we re saying,” Burns said. “A friendship network is needed because you can no longer rely on family structure. The only way to get change is for people to get together on their own.” “We’d like to change the ideas of listeners 35 and over,” Burns said. “They have to start thinking about old age and retirement. We re all getting up there. Like at age 28 when you notice people will say something like, ‘You really don’t look that old. ” 1/ The Texas A&M Chemistiy Club is selling the 60th edition of the CRC HANDBOOK through Friday, oct. 3 $ 21 (inch sales tax) ORDERS taken at these locations: The LRC (basement of Heldenfels) 9-11 a.m. Dr. Hogg’s Office, Rm. 332 in the Chemistiy Bldg. 8 a.m.-4 p.m. WESTERN SPECIALS 35% OFF ALL BOOTS All Longsleeve Western Shirts l 3 9 5 BAILEY WESTERN HATS *50 to *55 •MI WBSTBBtf WBAB NORTHGATE STORE ONLY Myth; The World is Round.
