Chemical treatment, Hughey said, has been limited because the federal government has approved fewer herbicides each year. The herbicides used continually on the weeds tends to become ineffective as the weeds become immune to the treatment, he continued. The weeds do not grow immune to mi crowave treatment, Hughey said. While chemical treatment some times only lasts one season, the mi- treatment will last three crowave anything i; proved, it laws confc Petal Patch “A complete florist” 696-6713 FOOTBALL MUMS FOR THE GAME (custom designed) FRIDAY FLOWERS $2.00 Bunch Hallmark party goods for after ^ the game. years, Hughey said, thus saving the grower some money in the long run. Hughey said that the first weed zapper is called Zapper III. The Zapper III is self-propelled and passes over the rows of the field. With the use of soil handling attachments located close to the ground, the machine scoops up the soil and passes it through a mi crowave unit. Once the soil is ex posed, the machine places it back on the ground. Hughey said production cost of the Zapner III would exceed ALL-UNIVERSITY $250,000 per unit. The corporation spent $1 million in research, and would need another $10 million to start production, he said. Because production cost of the units makes the manufacturing and distribution of the Zapper III im possible for the Oceanography International Corporation, Hughey said that on approval of the shareholders, the corporation plans to look for a distributor. $ 569 00 THIS WEEKS SPECIALS GOOD THRU OCT. 17, 1979 MARANTZ SD-3000 CASSETTE DECK VISCOUS-DAMPED CASSETTE EJECT LED PEAK LEVEL METERS, DOLBY, COMPU-SKIP, CUE AND REVIEW, RECORD MUTE BACKGAMMON TOURNAMENT REGISTRATION: Room 216 MSC FromMon.,Oct S-Sat, Oct,13 Fee: $1.00 TOURNAMENT IN RM701 Rudder OCT 18 THU 5-9 pm 19 FRI. 5-10pm 20 SAT 10am-6pm Prizes Include. - BACKGAMMON SET FROM KELLY S TOYLANE, TICKETS TO PABLO CRUISE, OTHER PRIZES AWARDED BY MSC RECREATION.
