Liquor industry takes labeling issue to United Press International WASHINGTON — Proposed regulations that would let beer, wine and liquor drinkers know what’s in the bottle through ingre dient listing on the label are under a new attack in court from distillers and wine makers. This time the industry contends one government agency somehow forced a second agency to push the project. To prove its point the in dustry has submitted testimony from the former head of one of the agencies involved, who now hap pens to work for the liquor industry. The proposal to require ingre dient labeling on alcoholic bever ages was issued two months ago by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, part of the Treasury De partment. The industry took the matter to court and Judge James Gordon of the U.S. District Court in Owensboro, Ky., issued an order late last week telling the bureau and the Food and Drug Administration they must appear next week to jus tify what they are doing or be held in contempt.
