Private contributions and pledges to Texas A&M University’s Center for Education and Research in Free Enterprise now total more than $1 million, announced Robert L. Walker, vice president for de velopment. A $100,000 endowment from Mr. and Mrs. T. B. “Brockett ’ Hudson of Houston and five grants totaling $22,200 have been recieved by the one-year-old center. Walker said the center now has commitments for $1.07 million from individuals, foundations and corpo rations. Hudson, president and founder of Southwest Chemical Services Inc. of Houston, said the gift represents the couple’s concern that public ig norance will destroy free enterprise in the United States. “We’ve been worried for some time about free enterprise,” Hud son said. “The public has a misun derstanding about our basic indi vidual freedoms and respon sibilities. We believe in private in dustry, open competition and minimum governmental controls.” Other recent gifts include: — $10,000 from John V. Second ses sion choices are slow pitch softball, 3-man volleyball, tennis doubles, golf doubles, 3-man basketball, and horseshoe doubles. Don’t hesitate — fraternize, socialize — recreate with a playmate. Play co-rec intramurals and have a jolly good time. Now that’s entertain ment. P. S.
