Paris, France, that is. About 30 College of Architecture and Environmental Design students will travel to Strasbourg, France, next fall to enroll in a new foreign studies program. The students and two Texas A&M architecture profes sors, will be at Schiller College in Strasbourg, a city near the German border in northeast France. “The program will give students the opportunity to view many dif ferent types of architecture and landscapes,” says Raymond D. Reed, dean of architecture and environmental design at Texas A&M. “It will provide new ideas and varying concepts for those who are able to partake in the European experience.” When the students return to Texas A&M, Reed says they will be able to enrich other students with their experiences. Reed emphasized that the pro gram will not cost the state any more than if the students stayed in College Station. Additional ex penses, he says, will be paid by the students and will amount to about $3,000 to cover travel, room and board, and activity fees for recre ational and educational field trips. Students will be required to take at least 12 credit hours of courses that can be used toward their de gree plan when they return. The two professors will have as many classroom contact hours with the students as they do at Texas A&M, Reed said. Reed, who recently traveled to France to make arrangements, notes the atmosphere is much dif ferent at Schiller College, a coedu cational institution that allows stu dents to drink beer or wine during class breaks. Reed said that the buildings are beautiful, but are not in prime con dition. One objective of the pro gram will be to help revitalize the buildings and landscape. “Students will be living in a chateau with about 70 students at tending the fine arts college. Sixty percent are Americans,” says Reed. If things go well with the pro gram, the college will make plans for other foreign study projects. The dean says some of the stu dents may undergo a cultural shock and want to come home. But, he adds, before the professors ship the students back to the states, they will take them into Strasbourg — to McDonald’s. Lunch time in the patio of our La Rojeha distillery. When our workers sit down to lunch they sit down to a tradition. When they make Cuervo Gold it’s the same. Every day at just about eleven the wives from Tequila arrive at the Cuervo distillery bearing their husbands' lunches. Lunches that have been lovingly prepared in the same proud manner since men first began working here in 1795. I It is this same pride in a job well-done that makes Cuervo Gold truly special.
