DEMOIS (Continued from page 5) No. First of all, I believe that yell leaders should make a maximum ef fort to attend all sporting events, men’s and women’s. However, I be lieve that Texas A&M is one of the few schools in this country where spirit is not created by the yell lead ers but they are the ones who unite the spirit in one direction. What criteria should be used to decide which special events yell leaders should attend? Yell leaders should attend all sporting events in which athletes are representing Texas A&M. It is obvious that they can not attend all out of town events, but if the event is at A&M, they should he there. Does midnight yell practice need improvement? If so, what? Even though any person that runs on the field is violating a tradition, it doesn’t help to support that tradi tion by beating the hell out of him before carrying him off the field. A forceful exit yes. But one Aggie beating up on another doesn’t help tradition any. obligation should be to the major sports events which the greatest number of Aggies attend. Events such as football, basketball (men’s and women’s), and baseball games should always be attended by yell leaders. The rest of their time should be evely distributed among the other sports. All the yell leaders will not always be able to attend, but every effort should be made to have some of them at each of these events. Does midnight yell practice need improvement? If so, what? Midnight yell practice is a tradi tion. Tradition makes A&M what it is and I’d hate to see that change. However, when people are severely injured in the name of tradition, it’s time to reevaluate such traditions. I am referring to the tackling of those who feel it’s their appointed duty to run across Kyle Field. I think this is one tradition which common sense and time should change. . What alternatives or solutions should be used when yell leaders can’t attend a sporting event? Right now there is a problem. I don’t find it is one, however, which can not be solved...It is true that a yell leader is chosen by the stu dents to represent them at athletic events. . . . For five people to attend every athletic event on campus would be an impossibility. However, with more cooperation from each side, I feel the yell leaders will be able to cover the sports events to the satisfaction of most everyone. For the future, I feel some consideration should be given to the idea of one or two additional yell leaders. What criteria should be used to decide which sporting events yell leaders should attend? I feel that the yell leader’s first . . . TOTAH (Continued from page 5) There are a lot of sporting events hut there are never too many. Ath letic events take place because people are interested in them. When there is an interest, there is a need. The yell leaders should work out a schedule so that at least one would be able to attend each event. What criteria should be used to decide which sporting events yell leaders should attend? I feel that all events are equally important. As stated above, I feel the yell leaders should work out a schedule. Does midnight yell practice need improvement? If so, what? I think midnight yell practice is great the way it is, except the lights might be left out a little longer. . . .
