Anderson said the purpose of the hook is “to present a model based on the blending of theories and facts. which max be list'd to: classify ob- serx able characteristics bx pupils, classify characteristics of methods and materials and to successfully match the two. Anderson said she hopes the book xvill help teachers to learn about children through testing. Nine of the 15 chapters in the book xvill be written by groups of two or three students. Anderson gave the students an outline of chapters and they chose the chapter they wished to write. Most of the research will be taken from publications in the library, An derson said. These chapters will deal xvith the children's abilities in math, reading and xvriting. The first three chapters will be written by Anderson. These chap ters xx’ill summarize the book and look at future roles for teachers of band(capped chiIdren. Anderson said the students grades xvill be largely determined by this group project. She said she doesn t think the students know yet how much work researching and xvriting the book xvill be. Anderson said she xvill be the editor to see bow well the students meet the book s objectix es. “The more we x e gotten into the research, the harder it s getting, and the more we re wondering what we re getting into, Ann Adams, a sophomore from Orange, said. The biggest problem Adams has had was finding material to back up the examples of different types of testing. The books she has found don t tell hoxv the authors arrive at the examples, she said.
