The board agreed to let local con tractors submit proposals within the allocated budget. These will be presented to the board building committee for consideration. In related action, the energy committee’s motion to adopt a boiler and distrubtion system for heating failed on a 3-3 vote. The system would have been for the new fifth and sixth grade facility and a vocational building at the high school. This system would have allowed the school to change from one fuel to another if prices became too high. The current fueling system uses gas. While the new boiler would also have used gas, it would have enabled the school to change to solar energy if a world system is de veloped. Converting to the new system was estimated at $58,(X)0 more than originally allocated. In closed session the hoard ex tended the one-year contract of principals and vice-principals to two years.
