Ann Kurth was the controversial woman whose testimony caused a mistrial in Hill’s 1971 murder trial. Hill was on trial for the death of his first wife, Joan Robinson Hill, when Mrs. Kurth, recently divorced from the plastic surgeon, blurted out some comments attorneys said violated provisions of husband-wife confidentiality. Hill, awaiting a second trial on the same charge, was shot down in the foyer of his River Oaks mansion Sept. 24, 1972. His survivors claim Robinson paid $25,(XX) to have Hill killed to avenge the death of his daughter, a socially prominent horsewoman. Mrs. Kurth, who has since writ ten “Prescription Murder, a book about her life with Hill, is expected to testify that Hill confessed killing Joan Hill and that he tried to kill her also.
