Waterhouse, whose works have been seen in his native El Paso, Lubbock and in Arizona, New Mexico and Denver, painted the desert and life of the Southwest for more than 20 years. His knowledge of the region lends truth to Waterhouse’s painting, making it farmer, Brown said. Some pieces in the Texas A&M exhibit will be for sale. The painter was graduated here in 1951. After two years service with the 2nd Armored Division in Ger many and knocking around New Mexico as a cowhand, Waterhouse dicided to paint. He studied at Los Angeles’ Art Center College of Design. Waterhouse returned to El Paso in 1956, managed El Paso Natural Gas Company’s publications and adver tising materials 16 years and de veloped his style. In 1972 the painter left there for a year as advertising director of an El Paso boot company and then started painting fulltime, supporting him self independently with his art. Becognized in “Who’s Who in American Art,” Waterhouse served a five-year term on the Texas Com mission on the Arts and Humanities by gubernatorial appointment in 1970. As a Texas A&M student, the M SC exhibitor was in Company “A” Infantry and studied agricultural economics. The painter, his wife Sandra and two sons reside near El Paso.
