The 25-year-old bus began serv ing Doux Chene apartment resi dents this week. The bus arrived three weeks ago and the owners painted and restored it with many of its original markings. Originally used in central Lon don, it stopped at such places as London Bridge, Picadilly Circus and Bricklayers Arms. Chuck Harty, owner of the com pany who bought the bus, refused to say how much the bus cost, but said that to duplicate the bus would cost about $20,000. Harty Management Enterprises bought the bus indirectly from London. The company manages several apartments in Texas. Some of the more distinctive fea tures of the bus are its solid brass window frames and large grill. It also has the original buzzer and bell sytem which students can use to signal the driver they want off. “The only thing un-British are the tires,” Harty said. He said the bus has had problems with its route because of A&M’s treelined streets. The bus route was changed to compensate for this. He said that he plans to ask Uni versity officials about trimming some of the trees bordering the streets. Harty said the main reason for the new bus is transportation for sum mer school students. He added that the bus can be chartered for weekends. —Kim Tyson Fords agree to do TV United Press International NEW YORK — Former Presi- lent Gerald R.
