Page 4 THE BATTALION WEDNESDAY, JUNE 16, 1976 1076 ANDERSON COUNTY — The prisoners now on trial before the District Court of this county for plac ing obstructions on the railroad tracks should be a warning to all young men to keep out of bad com pany and let whiskey alone. Some of these prisoners had the reputation of being good boys where they were raised. AUSTIN — The first carload of wheat ever shipped from Travis County was shipped Monday. There will be a very large surplus of wheat and oats for shipment from this sec tion this season, and until mills, are erected, Galveston will get the surplus if prices are available. GALVESTON — A prominent Cen tral Railroad man yesterday said that if there were buyers for the amount, that at least two million bushels of wheat could be sent to the port of Galveston between the present time and November. LIMESTONE COUNTY — The ex amination of the students at Trinity University, Tehuscana, took place last week. A number of our citizens were in attendance, and all express themselves highly pleased with what they saw and heard. The University is perhaps the most prosperous in stitution of learning in the state. SAN ANTONIO — General Devlin, United States Army, commanding officer of the Rio Grande district, has effected arrangements with the Mex ican authorities to prevent maraud ing from either side ol the Rio Bravo. BRENHAM — A tramp run out of Houston by the authorities there was arrested last night for stealing a hat out of a house. No more immigrants of this kind are wanted here, for our jail now contains thirty rascals, and heavy taxation is bankrupting us. FORT WORTH — Drs. Burts and Field have had a new office erected, and you can have a leg cut off or your insides taken out and replaced in the most skillful manner known to the art. If the medical association objects to this gratuitous notice ol these gentlemen, because it violates their rules of ethics, we will take it all back, and simply say they can fix up as nauseous a dose as anybody, when they try. SAN ANTONIO — The time is not far distant in Texas when the only fences that will be necessary are those for enclosing stock. Farm fenc ing costs ten times more than the stock fencing would, and as there are and always will be ten farmers to one stock raiser, it is easy to see that stock fencing will be adopted as a relief from the great expense of farm ing fencing. The cost of farm fencing is the greatest tax paid by the people of the United States. ADVERTISEMENTS—-Would call the attention of interior merchants to the following list of goods: 5,000 kegs assorted nails, grain cradles, planters and garden hoes; sisal and manillarope; Powder, shot, lead and caps; Pocket and table cutlery.
