Terence Hallinan, wlio rep resented Miss Hearst from her ar rest Sept. 18 until last week, also said in an interview published Tuesdax that Miss Hearst had been converted to a “leftwing person but still was far short of the “snpermilit- ant radical image she projected when taken into custodx . Hallinan was inten iewed b\ the weeklx newspaper Berkelex Barb before and after his Oct. 6 an nouncement that he was withdraw ing from the defense ranks. He would not specifx the reasons for his departure, other than to sax , “Thex didn t want me interfering. Hallinan also said: “Thex d haxe to pax me a million dollars before he would rejoin the defense team, now headed bx flamboyant Boston attornex F. Lee Bailex and his part ner, Albert Johnson. Hallinan s xvithdrawal came amid reports that other defense attornex s were bargaining to haxe Miss Hearst turn states exidence. Howexer, in a telephone inter- \ iexvfrom his Boston office, Johnson said Hallinan had bowed out for reasons of his own and again denied that the defense was plea bargain ing. Hallinan was asked in the inter- x iew if Miss Hearst expected to go free. T don t think so, he answered, adding that she appears prepared for the possibilitx of going to prison “as best she can be, considering her state. Sedan hits Ford’s car Associated Press HARTFORD, Conn. — A tan sedan ran into the side of President Ford s armored limousine Tuesdax night at a doxvntown intersection after he gave a speech here. A White House spokesman said Ford was not hurt. The President’s limousine con tinued on to the airport here with out stopping. Ford jogged up the steps to his plane. Air Force One, and took off for Washington. A White House spokesman also said there were apparently no in juries in the private car, not part of the Ford s motorcade. The front of the private car was smashed. The front fenders were curled up and the radiator was pushed in. The collision occurred about three and a half blocks from the Civic Center where Ford spoke to a Republican fund-raising dinner.
