Even if an unrecognized organization or club has bought pages in past Aggielands, if they want to be in cluded this year the organization or club must go through the recognition procedures established by the university. An organization or club wanting to become recog nized can do so at the Student Programs Office, second floor of the MSC. The Aggieland will accept no organization or club for contracting space after Nov. 10, 1975. All previously recognized organizations and clubs plus those applying for recognition have until Nov. 10 to contract space. After Nov. 10 there will be no further space sold in the book and no exceptions will be made. Anderson most congested area for bikes, vehicles By JACK HODGES Battalion Staff Writer The residential area behind the Anderson Middle School on Jersey Street is apparently the most con gested area for bicyclists and motor vehicles, according to a bike-path study recently completed by the Brazos County League of Women Voters. The League’s study was con ducted during two days. Sept. 16 and 19, with volunteers stationed at street intersections in College Sta tion. Hourly counts were taken for 11 hours on each day. “Some of the streets behind the school have no curbs, the streets are narrow and there is heavy traffic from parents taking their children to school and students going to and from A&M, Anne Hazen, co- chairman of the bike-path study committee of the League of Women Voters said Wednesday. The most dangerous intersection, the study said, was the intersection of Jersey-Kyle Streets and Texas Avenue. During the two-day study, approximately 40,000 automobiles crossed the intersection including Texas Avenue. Recordings not including traffic on Texas Avenue showed that 14,416 automobiles, 906 bicycles and 163 pedestrians crossed that in tersection. “The danger is that the right-on- red intersections on Texas Avenue and Jersey and Kyle Streets are dangerous to bikers not making a right-hand turn and it would be safer if the streets were widened for the bikes, Hazen said. The League also conducted a study on Sept. 9 on students attend ing local schools who ride and own bikes and cars. Survey forms were distributed to the schools by the League but only a few were distri buted to A&M Consolidated High School because not enough forms were given to teachers there. For example, at Anderson Mid dle School, 40 per cent of the stu dents rode their bikes, 11 per cent walked, 22 per cent rode the school bus and 27 per cent were driven to school by their parents. More than 700 students partici pated in the survey at the Middle School. The total figures will be pre sented to the League of Women Voters early in November. Hazen said they will then decide on what recommendations they will present to the College Station City Council on the problem. ® ^JLILSIJETST 311 UNIVERSITY •NORTH GATE Call ahead for faster service 846-1713 under new management BRING THIS COUPON $1.00 OFF ANY GIANT PIZZA ssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss ‘SAVE A BUNDLE” Remember the old, Cash and Carry, money saving trick?
