EIL student groups also make travel tours, usually in the country they visit. For seven of the last eight years, TAMU has been the only U. S. university with one student leader in the EIL to Soviet Rus sia. They have spent the summer with Russian students. The Experiment, headquartered in Putney, Vt., waived its rules of only one student per campus per EIL group to allow A&M to send two students to Russia this summer. They are Cathleen Schnatterly, senior math major from Odessa, and Louis Gohmert, history major from Mt. Pleasant and sophomore class president. Schnatterly is a student senator from the College of Science. Gohmert is also an officer in the Opera and Performing Arts So ciety.
