S. population, are potential air transportation nightmares. Because of population center nature of the areas, however, do mestic air passenger travel will be a necessity. But the very size and conges tion of supermetro areas will work to encroach on space vital to present air transportation. Donald S. McAlister of Dallas concluded in his report to Dr. Charles A. Rodenberger that “there is now and will continue to be a growing market for the STOL-port and intra-regional air port,” the latter a massive center for long-range air transportation serviced by the STOL aircraft as short-haul transport. To insure smooth traffic flow in such a system, McAlister said, federal agencies must establish a national transportation system plan. In addition, government-spon sored research and development must be done on design and op eration of STOL aircraft and STOL-port planning,” the student engineer added. McAlister said studies have shown that, the higher-cost STOL attracts more air travelers than conventional air transport, largely because it reduces door-to-door trip time. He indi cated the population-centered STOL-ports would help cut down individual vehicle travel to air ports, a prime cause of air pol lution. Based on a survey of current STOL aii-craft designs, McAlister feels a high lift turbofan with ex ternally blown flaps is the best design to serve the intra-regional airport system. It offers service at the least cost and lowest noise level. But three months later, Pete had changed his tune and was ready for college. Since then, he’s had other graduations—from college, from medical school. Each time Pete has discovered that it isn’t all over when you grad uate. Something is just beginning. Some people want to “graduate” from church at a certain age or time. They’re just like Pete was when he left high school. They think they’ve outgrown the Church. How empty Pete’s life would be now if he had stopped at that first graduation. How empty your life would be without the Church. Maybe it isn’t all over for you! The church doors are always open.
