Barker Box 5788 — 846-7548 By MICHAEL A. LUTZ Associated Press Sports Writer Boise Best has been taking those family discussions with his Texas Aggie teammates seriously. Best said the Aggies started having weekly team meetings following their loss to Texas Christian and the result has been three straight victories for the rejuvenated Aggies. “Having these talks before the games kind of brought us togeth er and made us want to play for each other,” Best said. “We’d Boice Best played so poorly early in the sea son, we didn’t have anyone to play for but ourselves. “I think it’s helped us get psyched up for our games. Play ers who want to get up and say what they think about the game. We try to get each other up for the game.” In that case, Best’s teammates can take some credit for Best’s performance in last week’s victory over Southern Methodist. Best dumped the Mustang Quar terback three times for 14 yards in losses, made 14 tackles and blocked a pass from his left de fensive tackle position. His contribution earned him the Associated Press Southwest Conference Defensive Player of the Week honor. Best said the team meetings started after the TCU game when the entire squad met with head FOR BEST RESULTS TRY BATTALION CLASSIFIED ATTENTION GRADUATING SENIORS WOULD YOU BE INTERESTED IN: 1. He just wanted to know our views to understand us bet ter.” Best said another reason for the Aggie surge is less mistakes. “Now we’re taking advantage of other people’s mistakes,” Best said. “We got a taste of it and now we want to keep going.” “Early in the season, it seemed like the defense would do some thing and the offense would throw an interception. We weren’t really playing that bad, it was just those mistakes. “I think we’ve got confidence in our offense now. Joe Mac King has done an excellent job at quar terback and we have confidence in him.” Best goes home this weekend to play the Rice Owls. He attend ed Houston Smiley High School. “I really want to play a good game this week too,” Best said. “Since it’ll be in Houston.” He might not even need a family discussion to get psyched up.
