The Aggies, 11-0 in SWC play and a game-and-a-half ahead of second place Texas, swept a twin- bill from Texas Tech Saturday in Lubbock. The victories lifted Texas A&M’s season record to 20-4. Pitching again was the key for the Maroon as brilliant lefty Doug Rau hurled his second straight two-hit shutout for a 3-0 victory in the seven-inning open er. Rau’s season record is now 7-0 while his earned run average dropped to a remarkable 0.33. Dave Benesh won his fifth game against two losses in the 6-4 second game. The senior right hander needed eighth inning re lief help from Hardy Frazier in picking up his fourth SWC win against no losses. First baseman Chris Sans, catcher Billy Hodge and center- fielder Dave Elmendorf paced the Aggie hitters. Sans extended his hitting streak to 12 games going l-for-3 in the first game and 3-for-5 in the second. Sans is now hitting .351. Hodge had a triple and two singles, driving in three runs in the twinbill. Elmendorf had a double, two singles and two runs batted in. The Aggie defense turned in three doubleplays for its contri bution to the wins. Houston comes to Kyle Field for a 1:30 doubleheader Thursday. The Aggies retura the favor in Houston Saturday.
