The local chapter of the na tional service fraternity was founded March 26, 1962. There were 20 charter members. Xi Delta has grown since then to over 300 members. There are more than 100 active members now on campus. This semester’s pledge class is the sixteenth in the history of the chapter. Officers for the pledge class are Milton Nielson, presi dent; Bruce Clay, vice president; Mike Vidrine, secretary; and Vi dal Gonzalez Jr., treasurer. The pledge class has been named after Gary Beckcom, a sophomore who received a com pound leg fracture while work ing on the bonfire. Andrew Williams, pledge mas ter, said pledges are required to complete 45 hours of service this semester and to work on at least five projects. APO projects this semester will include putting flags around the drill field for all military reviews, helping with the upcoming local Boy Scout Circus and running the Aggie Blood Drive. Williams said the local chapter has already given out over 5,000 free gift-pax and Class maga zines, and will be participating in the APO Sectional Conference in Houston April 10-12.
