President For the second time in three years, an A&M grad via te has beer elected president of the Society of Petroleum Engineers. The 1970 head of the nation wide organization is Robert H. McLemore of Dallas, president of Otis Engineering Corp. and a 1933 petroleum engineering grad uate of Texas A&M. Two years ago, the position was held by H. J. Gruy, also of Dal las, who earned his petroleum engineering degree at A&M in 1937. Gruy is president of H. L. Gruy & Associates. Two Texas A&M faculty mem bers, Dr. John C. Calhoun Jr. and Dr. Richard A. Morse, also are SPE past presidents. ★ ★ ★ Dr. Flowers Attending Washington Conference Dr. A. I. Flowers, head of the Veterinary Public Health Depart ment at Texas A&M, will partic ipate in the U.S. Air Force Med ical Services Liaison Officers Conference in Washington, D. C., today through Friday. Dr. Flowers’ interest is the early commissioning program at Texas A&M. Doctor of veterinary medicine students with military contracts are commissioned after comple tion of bachelor’s requirements and enter the armed forces as captains when awarded the DVM degree. ★ ★ ★ Chi Alpha to Show “Dry Rones ,, Chi Alpha will present the Is raeli film, “Dry Bones,” at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in room 146 Physics. “Dry Bones” is based on the story of the Old Testament's Messianic Scriptures. Capt. R. E. Crane will head the team which will operate an in formation booth in the Memorial Student Center Monday through Thursday. The Austin-based team also will include Sgt. R. L. Stephens. In addition to interviewing students interested in becoming Marine officers, Crane will speak at an open meeting of the Semper Fidelis Society at 8 p.m. Tuesday in Room 146, Physics. The meeting also will include a talk by G. L. Carroll, a Marine Corps Reserve captain who re cently served as a pilot in Viet- name. The Semper Fidelis Society is primarily composed of students enrolled in the Marine Corps’ Platoon Leaders Class (PLC) commissioning program. Chapter President Thomas Hoysa emphasized all students are invited to the Tuesday ses sion. ★ ★ ★ Dr. Ohno Cancels Due to Illness Sudden illness has canceled two genetics lectures here by Dr. Susumu Ohno, chairman of the Biology Department for the City of Hope Medical Center in Duarte, Calif. His discussion had been set for today and Friday. Substituting for Ohno will be Dr. Lavon J. Sumption of the Prairie Animal Breeding Enter prises, Ltd., Alberta, Canada, a guest professor of the A&M Ani mal Science Department. Sumption’s seminar on genetics covering “Multiple Sire Mating- Implications for Selection,” will begin at 4 p.m. Thursday in Room 317, Animal Industries.
