Landry said the Cowboys will prepare for their National Foot ball League Eastern Conference playoff game with Cleveland in Dallas Dec. 28 by making a “major change in the secondary.” He said rookie Otto Brown will move to the right cornerback position to replace Phil Clark, who has been the weakest link in the Cowboy pass defense. “Brown will play the first half against Baltimore Saturday and safety Mel Renfro will move to the position in the second half,” Landry said. Landry activated rookie Rich mond Flowers and will give him some work against the Colts at free safety. No other winning team in the NFL has such a poor record. The Cowboys have allowed 51.2 per cent passes to be completed against them, which isn’t too bad when you consider Minnesota has allowed 51.9 per cent. But the Cowboy secondary has the deadly habit of allowing folks to get behind them. Dallas’ new look will get a quick test Saturday in the Cotton Bowl when the Colts come to town. Johnny Unitas will start at quarterback. Landry said all preparations now were pointed toward the Cleveland game. “I don’t view it important at all to win the last two games,” Landry said.
