Prescott was born in San
Marcos, Texas, the son of Mr.
and Mrs. John M. Prescott, Sr.
He received a BS degree in chem
istry in 1941 from Southwest
Texas State College, the MS de
gree in biochemistry and nutri
tion in 1949 at Texas A&M, and
his doctorate in biochemistry in
1952 at the University of Wis
consin.

Regalia for the May 1969
Commencement Exercise
All students who are candidates for the
degree of Doctor of Philosophy or Doctor
of Education are required to order hoods
as well as the Doctor’s cap and gowns.
The hoods are to be left at the Registrar's
Office no later than 1 :00 p.m., Tuesday,
May 20 (this will be accomplished by
representative of the University Exchan
Store). The Ph.D. or D.Ed. hoods will not
be worn in the procession since all such
candidates will be hooded on the stage
as part of the ceremony.
Candidates for the Master’s Degree will
wear the cap and gown ; all civilian stu
dents who are candidates for the Bachelor’s
Degree will wear the cap and gown ; ROTC
students who are candidates for the Bach
elor’s Degree will wear the appropriate
uniform. All military personnel who are
candidates for the degrees, graduate or
undergraduate, will wear the uniform only.
Rental of caps and gowns may be arranged
with the Exchange Store. Orders may be
placed between 8:00 a.m., Monday, April
28, and 12 :00 noon, Saturday, May 10. The
rental is as follows: Doctor’s cap and
gown, $7.54 ; Master’s cap and gown, $7.02.
Hood rental is the same as that for the
cap and gown. Sales tax is included in
the rental price. Payment is required at
the time of placing order.
Baccalaureate regalia will no longer be
available on a rental basis, but the cap
and gown may be purchased at the Ex
change Store beginning May 1. The pur
chase price is $6.34, including tax.

Browns Will Be Oriented At A&M
‘Simple Simon’
To Be Staged
Here Saturday
Youngsters’ entertainment free
to Bryan, College Station and
area children will be staged here
Saturday morning by the Aggie
Players.
“Simple Simon,” premiered at
the Children’s Theater of Wash
ington, D.C., in 1952, will begin
at 10 a.m. in Guion Hall. Time
of the presentation was changed
to avoid conflict with the Ma
roon-White football game.
Story of a stranger who is
mistreated when he visits a
make-believe kingdom, the play
will feature Aggie Players Di
rector C. K. Esten and his wife
Lugean in a cast of nine.
Also in “Simple Simon” will
be A&M students Jeanette Roger
of Hebbronville as the pieman;
Karen Buckland, El Paso, execu
tioner; Michelle. Mayeux, Bryan,
Simon; Lucy Bishop, Dickinson,
Princess; Melanie Haldas, Hous
ton, underwear; Travis Miller,
West Winfield, N. Y., the King,
and Barbara Karpinski, College
Station, as the washerwoman.
Mrs. Esten will be the Queen
and the A&M English professor
and theater arts section head
will play the herald.
The Aggie Players production
