City Campus Briefs Friday, November 10, 1967 THE BATTALION College Station, Texas Page 3 Weirus To Speak To Alumni Group SAN ANTONIO—Mr. Richard Weirus, executive director of Texas A&M’s Association of Former Students will be the ban quet speaker this weedend at the 44th annual convention of the International Federation of Catho lic Alumnae, Texas Chapter. The HemisFair City convention will be hosted by Incarnate Word College. Mr. Weirus will address the de legates on Saturday night in the College’s dining hall. His topic is “Should the Alumna Care?” IFCA is an organization of graduates from Catholic high schools, junior colleges, colleges, universities, and schools of nurs ing. They are engaged in various social service programs and schol arship foundations. The Nov. 10-12 convention will offer lectures and workshops on literature, motion pictures, and social work. Also attending the convention will be Mrs. H. R. Purcell of Houston, IFCA president. Do Until the Sunshine Comes,” is a Photographic Society of Amer ica slide presentation. Tilley noted that members should bring 16x20 mounted photos for a print contest, in which novice and advanced divi sions will be judged. Frank Tilley of Jacksonville, president, said the meeting will be at 7:30 p.m. in Rooms 3B and C of the Memorial Student Center. The program is set for 10 a.m., announced BSU Director Bob Burch. “Woxld Scope” is designed to give international students an op portunity to exchange ideas and customs as well as to understand more about the United States, Burch explained. Craig Hay, international stu dent chairman for the BSU, said regular “World Scope” programs are planned each Saturday, with refreshments to follow each meet ing. Miss Kathleen Johnson, BSU assistant director, said 41 stu dents attended the first “World Scope” presentation last Satur day. International students assis ting in the “World Scope” pro gram include Estaban Salinas, Ramon de Leon and Paul Jival. Hurlbut, member of College Station’s First Baptist Church, joined the A&M coaching staff in December, 1964, after a short stint of coaching football and swimming at Galveston. A native of Houston, Hurlbut was a versatile athlete at Aldine High School, competing in foot ball, basketball, track and base ball. After playing freshman foot ball at Rice, he transferred to Alabama University where he was a quarterback and defensive half back for three years.
