But the 5-10, pint-size guard from Dallas Thomas Jefferson still managed to “whoop it up” with his teammates following the gruelling, 77-71, victory over the Texas Tech Red Raiders. “I’m so tired I wish we didn’t have to go to school tomorrow (Wednesday), but I guess I will have to get up and go,’ Domin guez mumbled in a low voice. In a sport designed, for the tall men, Dominguez stood the tallest. Behind the first half shoot ing and rebounding of Domin guez, the Aggies stayed within four points of Tech’s shooting pack. He hit 13 points and was credited with five rebounds. While Tech was concentrating on stopping the shooting of John Beasley, the conference leading scorer, Dominguez, with surpris ing help from Terry Trippet, de molished the Red Raiders’ 1-3-1 zone with shots from the top of the circle and the corners. “My kids played, as hard as they could,” Tech Coach Gene Gibson said. “It was a tremend ous effort on our part in hold ing Beasley to 11 points but Trippet and Dominguez killed us from outside. We knew they could hit but we didn’t know they could hit that well.” Dominguez, who had a game’s high of 22 points and grabbed eight crucial rebounds, praised his teammates for a great ef fort. “This just had to be my best game in an Aggie uniform,” he explained. “I think I am a little quicker now than at the begin ning of the season because I have trimmed 20 pounds.” The way Dominguez looked Tuesday night he had sweated off an additional 20 pounds.
